November 1, 2025November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta! Join us at various community events and activities to help raise awareness and work to end family violence in our community.

- 11th Annual Memorial Walk.
Monday, November 3rd @ 12:15PM.
Join us at Medicine Hat City Hall for our annual walk to honour those impacted by Family Violence. We will be putting up purple ribbons around the downtown core - Family Violence Prevention Month Declaration with Mayor.
On November 3rd the Mayor of Medicine Hat will be declaring November as “Family Violence Prevention Month.” - Medicine Hat Tigers – ATB Chuck-a-Puck Event
Saturday, November 8th
Come on out to the game and support MHWSS through ATB Financial’s Chuck-a-puck! We will also have a table set up at the Community Corner. - MHWSS Christmas Hamper Program Begins

Learn how you can support MHWSS during this holiday season by visiting our Christmas Hamper Program page - Celebrating International Men’s Day
November 19th, 11AM-2PM at Medicine Hat College.
Join us outside the Students’ Association of MHC, as we partner with Sanare Centre. We will have SWAG bags, trivia/conversation cards, and informational displays. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Men & Boys”- encouraging men to celebrate and look out for each other, and promote health and wellness – including mental health. - Senior Safety Series at The Veiner Centre.
November 20th, 9:30AM-NOON
Join us at the Veiner Centre to learn more about elder abuse, family violence, local resources and supports, and how we can all be a part of creating a safer community. Featuring guest speakers from: MHWSS Safe Families Intervention Team and MHPS Cybercrimes Unit. Door prizes & complimentary beverages and snacks. Free for members and non-members to attend. November 21st, 5-11pm
Join us downtown for Medicine Hat’s annual Midnight Madness. More details coming soon! - Vigil for the National Day of Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women
December 6th – 4:30-6:30pm
Join us on Dec 6th for our annual memorial vigil to honour the lives lost in the École Polytechnique massacre, and victims of gender-based violence in Canada this past year.

- Wear Purple! Organize a “Wear Purple” day at your workplace to help raise awareness about FVPM!
- Connect and share with us on Social Media!
- Plan your own FVPM event – and reach out to us so we can share it with the community!
- Support MHWSS – whether it’s collecting items we’re in need of, or supporting our capital campaign, or volunteering there are many ways to support the work we do in our community. Learn more here!
