Children's Summer SAFE Program Worker (2 FTE Contract)

The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society supports families and individuals who
are experiencing family violence by providing them with safe shelter, education,
advocacy, and access to community resources. We are currently looking for an
individual to join our children’s program.


We are committed to being inclusive and treating all individuals with respect
and dignity. We provide employees with relevant training (cultural awareness,
foundations of family violence, etc.), mentorship, and various social supports.


Duties Include (but are not limited to):
• Support children and youth, ages 6 – 12, impacted by family violence.
• Facilitate programming to assist with building and developing life skills that
promote healthy living, stress reduction and social responsibility.
• Schedule, coordinate, facilitate, and participate in educational,
recreational, and social activities.
• Actively contributes to a healthy, safe, and supportive environment.
• Work collaboratively with clients, volunteers, coworkers, and community
partners to ensure effective service delivery.


Our ideal candidate will have:
• Currently enrolled, or recent graduate of a post-secondary institution,
preference given to those in the human services field.
• Experience working with children and youth is considered an asset.
• Knowledge and understanding of family violence is considered an asset.
• Group facilitation and public speaking experience.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR.
• Valid Alberta driver’s license.
• Must be under 30 years of age as per the Canada Summer Jobs grant
requirements.


Contract Date: starting June 22nd, 2026, and concludes August 28th, 2026.
Rate of Pay: $18.50/hr.
Hours of Work: 8:00am – 4:00pm (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday.
Excluding Canada Day (July 1st) and Heritage Day (August 1st).
