The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society supports individuals and individuals with children who are experiencing family violence by providing them with safe shelter, education, advocacy, and access to community resources.
Duties Include:
· Maintain the kitchen, dining room and storage areas by ensuring a safe and clean environment.
· Prepare and serve nutritious meals for clients in shelter, including our summer program, and as needed for other MHWSS programming.
· Ensure kitchen equipment is kept in good working order by monitoring and requesting maintenance as needed.
· Participate fully and consistently in program development activities.
· Communicate and enforce health and food safety rules to staff, volunteers, and clients as appropriate.
· Flexibility to assist other MHWSS programs with reasonable and appropriate tasks as assigned.
Our ideal candidate will:
· Have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Have strong interpersonal skills.
· Ability to communicate and collaborate well within a team.
· Self-motivated, and able to work well independently.
· Valid food safe certificate is required.
· Current First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset
· Knowledge and experience in a similar role are considered an asset.
· Current and clear police record check and child intervention check, showing no substantial instances of child abuse or neglect.
Start Date: Dependent on candidate, ideally mid to late June 2025.
Rate of Pay: Dependent on experience, $20.36 to $23.38 per hour, extensive benefit plan after 3 months of employment, including an employer funded RRSP program after 1 year of employment, 3 weeks of paid vacation time, many other wellness initiatives and supports in place.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday; 9:30am – 6pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break.

The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society supports individuals and families who are experiencing family violence by providing them with safe shelter, education, advocacy, and access to community resources. We offer an innovative daycare program to individuals accessing our programs and services.
Primary duties include:
· Establish and maintain a healthy, safe, and enjoyable childcare environment for a variety of ages.
· Provide one to one support for children accessing programs and services: including family violence education.
· Manage child behaviors in a group setting using best practices.
· Maintain documentation as required.
· Establish and maintain program routines.
· Maintain a standard of cleanliness in the childcare room.
· Facilitate age-appropriate opportunities for children to play.
· Provide basic care (feeding, diapering, etc.).
· Communicate and collaborate within a team.
Our ideal candidate will have:
· Current First Aid/CPR certification
· (Level 3) Child and Youth Care Diploma or Early Childhood Education is preferred. Other equivalent education & relevant work experience will be considered.
Start Date: As soon as possible, contract concludes June 26th, 2026
Rate of Pay: $22.04/hour. Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation, and up to 12 paid sick days per year. Many internal wellness initiatives.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, excluding statutory holidays. Some flexibility is required based on programming needs.
