“Outreach has been a life line for me during this difficult time. The support and encouragement has been what I needed to remain focused on healing and finding my purpose again.”

Outreach supports and groups are available at no cost through our community outreach office or at our shelters. Know someone who is experiencing family violence? Outreach supports are here to provide information and education so you can support a loved one.
Outreach Services office is located in The Ridge medical professional building (5 – 1036 7th Street SW).

One-to-One Outreach Support

Our Outreach Support Workers provide education about family violence, advocacy, support, and referrals. Services are available in person, by phone or through video chat.

Safe Families Intervention Team (SFIT)

SFIT is a partnership with the Medicine Hat Police Services where Outreach Workers and Police Officers collaborate to provide a coordinated, effective and consistent response to families in need of intervention and community referrals.

Domestic Assault Response Team (DART)

Domestic Assault Response Team (DART) is a partnership with Alberta Health Services where healthcare workers at hospitals screen patients for family violence, and then can connect them with a support worker for immediate support and access to services.

Clare’s Law Navigation

The Disclosure to Protect Against Domestic Violence (Clare’s Law) Act provides a way for those who feel they are at risk for domestic violence to find out if their partner has a criminal record related to domestic violence. The Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society can assist individuals in applying for this disclosure, and work with the Medicine Hat Police Service when disclosure is being shared with applicants.
